There are 2 methods for connecting your device, Airlink (recommended) and Direct mode. Most wireless networks will be compatible with Airlink mode. Direct mode is required if you have a dual-band wireless network (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), and both bands share a single SSID name. This is because the Nise Wave is compatible only with the 2.4 GHz band. If you are unsure of your set up, start with Airlink mode, and if the connection process times out then try Direct mode.
The following steps outline the process to connect using Airlink mode. For best results make sure your Nise Wave device, iOS/Android device and wireless router are all nearby. After the initial connection you can unplug your Nise Wave and move it to your desired location. Upon being plugged in it will automatically connect to the setup wireless network.
Congratulations, your Nise Wave device should now be connected. To confirm this the WiFi button on the Nise Wave should now be lit up and no longer blink. At this time you can unplug the Nise Wave and move it to your desired location. When powered on, the Nise Wave will automatically connnect to the set up wireless network if it is in range of the router.
If the connection processed timed out, try Direct mode or going through the troubleshooting guide below to find the solution for most problems.

Here's a list of solutions to the most common problems other users have experienced.
Restarting all devices can fix many unknown causes of failure automatically. Start by unplugging your router for at least 15 seconds to give it time to fully shutdown before restarting. Restart your iOS/Android device by holding down the power button to get a pop-up to shutdown/restart. Finally the Nise Wave can be restarted by unplugging it for at least 15 seconds as well. Once all devices have been restarted, try going through the connection process again.
If your wifi name or password contains non-ascii characters, (such as emojiis 😊, açénted characters, or non-standard symbols (¿‡, etc.), you will unfortunately need to change it. Only Alpha-numeric characters (a-z, 0-9) and common symbols will work (!@#$, etc.). This is a limit of the hardware and can't be changed, so changing the name or password of your wireless network is the only fix.
If using an android device, location permissions must be enabled for the app, otherwise the app is unable to find the network you are connected to. If you declined the permissions request, go into your system settings, permissions, and enable the location permission for the Nise Application.
Make sure the device, phone and router are all close by for the setup process. Afterwards the device can be unplugged and moved to the desired location and will automatically connect if the router is in range.
Some routers will create seperate networks for each wireless frequency. For example if your home WiFi is named "MyWiFi", on your iOS/Android device in network settings you may see 2 network names such as "MyWifi"/"MyWifi-2.4G" and "MyWifi-5G". Make sure to be connected to the 2.4GHz variant when going through the setup process.
The Nise Wave device cannot be connected to 5GHz wireless frequency. Make sure to be connected to a 2.4GHz network during the connection process and that in your router settings you have the 2.4GHz wireless frequency and wireless mode 802.11 g/n enabled. How do I log in to my Wi-Fi router? If you have not changed your default user name and password for your WI-Fi router, here is some information on how to log in to your Wi-Fi router for some common brands
Manufacturer | Default IP address / login | Default Username | Default Password |
---|---|---|---|
Linksys | http://192.168.1.1 | leave blank | admin |
Netgear | http://192.168.1.1 | admin | password |
TP-Link | http://192.168.0.1 or http://tplinklogin.net | admin | admin |
If you have a different brand of router from those listed in the table above, you can search on the internet for specific instructions using the manufacturer’s name and “login {manufacturer’s name} router.” For example, if you have an ASUS router, you can search on “login ASUS router.” Once you log into your router, look for the Wireless settings. Here you can see the name of your Wi-Fi bands and the passwords. Make sure that for the 2.4GHz wireless frequency band is enabled.
